  1. Investigate the long ‘a’ sound (the ‘ae’ phoneme). How many different words can you find that contain this sound? How many different ways is this sound spelt (one is ‘ae’!)? You can respond to the blog post or present your findings in a table or poster to be displayed in the classroom; it’s your choice!
  2. Along with your usual times table practice, learn the square and cube numbers

1 squared / 12= 1 x 1 = 1

2 squared / 22 = 2 x 2 = 4

1 cubed / 13 = 1 x 1 x 1 = 1

2 cubed / 23 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8

  • What happens to you on the way?
  • Who do you travel with? Do you have to leave them at any point?
  • Do you reach safety or are you deported back to Syria?

Ancient Egypt Tunnel Poem

The tunnel is deep dark and frightening, it is spooky and very cold.

You can hear the water trickling down the deep and damp walls,

The explorers sneak into the tunnel to see what treasure they can find

Gold, Rubies Emeralds and pearls, they cannot believe they’re eye’s,

they hurry and place them in there sacks, but then they hear some creepy sound, saying go away ! go away!

They are trapped and cannot get out as the tunnel entrance has now gone.

The tunnel is deep dark and frightening, it is spooky and very cold.

You can hear the water trickling down the deep and damp walls,

the explorers sneak into the tunnel to see what treasure they can find

Gold, Rubies Emeralds and pearls, they cannot believe they’re eye’s,

they hurry and place them in there sacks, but then they hear some creepy sound, saying go away ! go away!

They are trapped and cannot get out as the tunnel entrance has now gone.

the mummies ghost get nearer and nearer as they hear the wailing sounds go away go away..
